How to Protect Your Xero Shoes from Water & StainsUpdated a month ago

Want to give your Xero Shoes a little extra protection from water, dirt, and stains? A protectant may help!

Some customers suggest products such as Scotchgard™ or KIWI® products for added water or stain protection.

If you choose to use a protectant, make sure it is specifically designed for the materials used on your shoes and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

A few tips before you spray

  • Check the label. Make sure the protectant is compatible with all of the materials on your shoes.

  • Test it first. Apply a small amount to an inconspicuous area and let it dry completely before treating the rest of the shoe.

  • Check for changes. If you notice discoloration, staining, texture changes, or anything else unexpected, don't apply the product to the rest of the shoe.

  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Different products have different application and drying requirements.

Think of a protectant as a little extra defense against the elements, not a force field. It may help your shoes repel water and stains, but it won't necessarily make a shoe completely waterproof.

If you're looking for a fully waterproof shoe, check out our waterproof styles, which are specifically designed for wet-weather conditions.

One important thing to know

We want your Xero Shoes to last a long, long time! That's why we recommend using care products carefully and only as directed.

Damage caused by improper care or the use of products that aren't suitable for your shoes isn't covered under our warranty. This includes damage caused by cleaning products, protectant sprays, waterproofing treatments, conditioners, or other aftermarket products.

Please note: Scotchgard™, KIWI®, and other third-party products are mentioned as examples only. Xero Shoes does not endorse or guarantee the performance or compatibility of third-party care products.

When choosing a care product, always check the manufacturer's instructions to make sure it's appropriate for your specific shoe materials.
