What’s the temperature rating for your shoes?Updated a month ago
We find that temperature ratings aren’t very accurate. They vary greatly depending on environmental factors such as humidity, activity level, and typical regional weather (a Tennessee snowstorm can feel quite different from one in Colorado).
Below is an overview that may help guide you.
Sandals
Our sandals are not designed to keep your feet warm.
If you choose to wear them in colder conditions, adding socks can help provide warmth. Insulated or waterproof socks may offer additional protection if you prefer wearing sandals year-round.
Closed-Toe Shoes
Most of our closed-toe shoes are not specifically designed for cold-weather insulation. They will provide warmth similar to a traditional closed-toe shoe, depending on the thickness and material of the socks worn.
If you love the style of one of our shoes and would like to improve its ability to repel light moisture, you can apply a waterproofing treatment such as a Scotchgard™ spray or beeswax. Be sure to test any product on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure compatibility with the material.
Waterproof & Insulated Option
Currently, the Alpine (Adult line) is our insulated and waterproof boot option.
The Alpine features:
A waterproof, seam-sealed XeroTex™ membrane to help keep feet dry
200g of insulation
A heat-reflective insole for added warmth
This combination is designed to help keep your feet warm and dry during cold-weather adventures.
