Can Xero Shoes be used for grounding or earthingUpdated a month ago
No. Xero Shoes are not electrically conductive, so they don’t provide a grounding connection between your feet and the ground.
Why not?
Our soles are made from rubber, which is an insulator. That’s what gives them their durability and grip. While our shoes are low to the ground and flexible enough to let your feet move naturally, that ground feel is about sensation and movement, not electrical contact.
Can I modify my shoes to make them conductive?
Some customers have chosen to modify their shoes for grounding. We don’t recommend or provide guidance on modifications. Any alteration to the sole or upper can affect fit, durability, and water resistance, and modified shoes are not covered under our warranty.
Looking for a grounding option?
If grounding is a priority for you, purpose-built grounding footwear with conductive soles is available from other brands, and going barefoot on natural ground is the simplest option of all.
